My Art Supplies & Tools

Let's take a look at my simplistic art tools and materials. Just cheap things haha.

The tools

Cheap hair combs as substitute for quilling comb. The blue one is RM1, while the orange one is 60 sen.

Toothpicks , a 'needle thing' I found in local superstore, and cutting blade.
The toothpicks are used as a substitute for slotted tool. I use the blade to cut the end of the toothpick to make a slot for the paper strips. that needle thing, I'm not sure what is the exact function, but I found it is very sharp, and great to be a substitute for an awl or needle tool. Very handy in book binding to make the holes.

My trustworthy mechanical pencil of 3 years :3 and white glue from Popular bookstore.

Corrugated paper
I bought this corrugated papers a long time ago when I was still in school. It is in a pack of 5, with the colors bright red, maroon, black, green and blue. Stayed in the boxes for a long time since I didn't know what to do with them LOL. Now I am doing more craft I will surely use it.

Mounting board.  I use them as book cover in book binding.
Mounting board of A4 size. Only 70 sen each. The simplest material for book covers in book binding. Not really sure what is the exact material used by the professionals.

A4 colored paper of 130gsm.

And now, the colorfuls :D

Ribbons, cotton thread and quilling paper.

This one is variety pack from Honey's Quilling.
I ordered this several weeks ago. I liked this size (3mm) because the outcome seems nicer than other wider widths. I cannot do the 1.5mm though, it will surely be ripped by my fingers LOL

Cotton thread for book binding.
Bought this last year when I started learning book binding, coptic stitch in particular. Found it in local wedding supply store where you get all the stuffs for hantaran.

This is ribbon sample pack from Fabric Fanatics. I love the chicken one. So cute :3
Another online-bought product. Very nice ribbons they are. Some are of wider widths, plain color or patterned, and there's also gross-grain ones. Should be very expensive, but this sampler pack is only RM18.

Circle template and metal ruler.
Been searching that circle template for ages since I left my old one at home. Found it in local bookstore, only RM3.50.

Well, as you can see, I use so many substitutes for my art work. Since I am just a student, and my source of money is limited, I need to be creative and find anything cheap and can work like the designated tools. When I have the money, I will surely buy the right tools needed :D
