Finally I managed to make the royal flower today. After the cupcake earlier, I was still bored, so I made another quilling. It is easy to find time to do this right now, since it is still early in the semester and the schedule is still manageable. Just wait for the end of the semester - assignments, carry marks, finals. Headaches.
Back to the story. I used hot colors for this flower, orange and mustard. It looks quite 'firey' so I want to call this version as the 'Phoenix Flower' :3
I used my combs (as shown in the earlier posts) to make the petals, like the husking technique. Afterwards, I used the slotted toothpick to roll the edges and shape them. While for the center, I made a tight coil using pink strips and pushed it upwards so it formed a dome shape.

For the leaves, I kept them easy, since the petals are already complicated enough haha (but still fun). I made the basic leaf shape using dark green and light green paper. For the other pattern, I just cut, fold and bend the paper as I pleased and just stick them on the paper. Already tired for more complicated stuffs!
Next time, I will certainly make the royal flower again, but different petal style. I also ordered some more quilling paper strips from SF Quilling Craft on facebook, and she is kind enough to give me a cheap price. Will be here this Monday, I think. Can't wait to try more!
